mt. makiling.

When Zoe invited us to his family’s house in Mt. Makiling, I imagined a spacious, simple, ordinary-looking house.

I did not imagine

a castle.

We (Zoe, Justine, Maix, Mandy, Sarah, Ding, Mike, Harry, Whiz, Ivan, Juanch, Jono, and I) stopped over in Petron Filinvest, then Petron Calamba. It wasn’t a very long drive, just drive through the entire SLEX. We got to Makiling at around 8pm. The buffet table was overwhelming. A salad bar, 3 kinds of paella, pesto, carbonara, bolognese, salmon, baked fish, baked chicken, roasted calf, blueberry cheesecake, raspberry cheesecake, chesnuts, different shaped pretzels, beef, mixed nuts, fruits, different kinds of cheese, panna cotta (sp?!), mango-lemon cake, an open bar… The list goes on and on. All of us went back AT LEAST four times. It was like a Barkada Smiles (Sarah, Maix, Ivan, Harry, Zoe, and I have been in a barkada since grade 5) reunion… The modified version. We ate, went up the first tower, then the highest tower, then ate AGAIN. Throughout the evening, my camera was alive and clicking.

I love how even my guy friends love having their pictures taken. That way, when I say “OKAY PICTUUUUUURRRRRRRE!!!!” they automatically clump together and pose. Noone’s KJ. Sometimes, THEY’RE the ones that say, “Anns, take our picture!”
